Nationwide Gallery of Eire reveals shortlists for Zurich awards – The Irish Instances

The nominees for this yr’s Zurich Portrait Awards have been revealed by the Nationwide Gallery of Eire.

Twenty-six artists have been shortlisted for the Zurich Portrait Prize; 20 artists, aged between 4 and 18, have been chosen for the Zurich Younger Portrait Prize. All of them made it to the ultimate spherical from a whole lot of entries, in a wide range of media, from throughout the nation.

The winner of the Zurich Portrait Prize will obtain a money prize of €15,000 plus a fee of €5,000 to create a piece for the nationwide portrait assortment. Two further prizes of €1,500 shall be awarded to extremely regarded entries from these chosen. The judges are artist Diana Copperwhite, Anna O’Sullivan from the Butler Gallery in Kilkenny and artist Nick Miller.

Within the Zurich Younger Portrait Prize, 5 winners – one from every age class plus one total winner – will obtain artwork supplies in addition to a money prize; all chosen artists can have their work professionally framed/ready. The judges are Janet McLean from the Nationwide Gallery of Eire, comedian e book illustrator Nick Roche and artist Una Sealy.
